UMS, DGeG to enhance sustainability devt in geoscience
KOTA KINABALU: Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) and Digital Geoscience Global Sdn Bhd (DGeG), a geoscience services provider, have signed a Letter of Intent (Lol) to expand their collaboration recently.
Under the letter of intent, both parties aim to jointly harness each other’s strengths and experiences to enhance the growth of several academic and research activities.
The Lol was signed by the Dean of Faculty of Science and Natural Resources UMS, Professor Dr Jualang @ Azlan Abdullah Gans au and the Chief Executive Officer of Digital Geoscience Global Sdn Bhd, Siti Sarah Ab Rahman while co-witnessed by Aidah Noordin, Deputy Senior Registrar of UMS and Noor Nazira Nazari, the Chief Operation Officer of Digital Geoscience Global Sdn Bhd, who joined in carrying out the Lol signing procedures in an event held in Intercontinental Hotel, Kuala Lumpur.
Siti Sarah who is also a proud alumna of UMS co-founded DGeG with her partners in 2021 to enhance and upscale the quality of geological tasks. With the motto of “Digitalisation of Earth towards Sustainability”, DGEG offers robust solutions by using the most innovative integrated digital geology approach aligned with Industrial Revolution 4.0 and Sustainability Developments Goals (SDGs) adopted by United Nations (UN).
This collaboration was initiated through an initiative by DGeG and UMS to form a consortium to study the potential of Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) in Malaysia with other well-established universities and companies. Through the Letter of Intent, FSSA also seeks to partner with DGeG to promote interventions that expand academic and research quality collaboratively.

意向书是由沙巴大学科学及自然资源系院长担亚朗阿兹兰阿都拉干绍博士兼教授,以及数码地球科学有限公司(DGeG)首席执行员西蒂莎拉阿都拉曼分别代表双方签署》出席仪式者包括沙大高级注册官艾达诺丁及DGeG的首席营运员诺娜芝拉•签署仪式是在吉隆坡一家酒店进行》
西蒂莎拉阿都拉曼亦是沙巴大学校友’她于2021年与伙伴创立数码地球科学有限公司(DGeG) •以加强和提升地球质量的研究工作。她表示’数码地球科学有限公司(DGeG)的目标口号是「地球数码化•实现可持续发展」•通过使用最具创意和创新的综合数码地质学研究方法•提供强而有力的解决方案•并与工业革命4.0和联合国通过的可持续发展目标(SDGs)相符相合•
这项计划是由沙大及DGeG双方共同倡议发起,旨在与其它成熟的大学和公司组成团队•研究马来西亚碳捕获及储存(CCS)的潜能•通过意向书,沙巴大学科学及自然资源系寻求与DGeG合作,促进大学学术和地质研究的质量。
具体而言•双方一致同意通过数码研究和出版活动、学术和教职员实习、专业培训、咨询以及有利于双方进一步联合开放的项目•进行合作、共享开放及研究的专业知识。
「沙大及DGeG之间合作是很好的起步,特别是现今鼓励1业界参与各种学术活动•随着工业界和大学之间专业知识和最新科技的共享,我们希望加强并启动科学领域的研究和发展•特别是自然资源相关研究工作。计划中的沙巴碳酸盐和碎屑岩研究,将能进一步建立双方网络•以及沉积学和通过数码地球科学进行的地震建筑模型•」
「我们相信大学和工业界的合作相当重要,不仅为实现第4个(联合国)可持续发展目标•即提高教育质量•也是为实现其它相关可持续发展目标,诸如促进清洁能源、城市及人类的可持续发展|以及减少气候变化影响•我们的目标是扩大与工业及大学方面合作•提高地球科学的可持续性研究和发展,并与第17个(联合国)可持续发展目标保持贯连性•即在2030年前振兴全球可持续发展伙伴的关系•」
身为数码地球科学有限公司(DGeG)首席执行员的西蒂莎拉阿都拉曼,近日受大马地质研究所(IGM)任命为2023年地质学女性主席•她表示,当大家谈论地球的质量时•并没有性别偏见,有许多地质科学家都是女性成员*并获国际认可•
